Preparatory Year
Objectives
The Preparatory Year Program is designed to prepare students for college level work in technical and management programs.
Specific objectives are:
- Raise the students' English language proficiency to a level which will permit them to undertake undergraduate studies in courses taught in English.
- Review and reinforce the students' knowledge of mathematics to prepare them for post-secondary work in mathematics and technical courses requiring a mathematics background.
- Review and reinforce the students' knowledge of science to prepare them for post-secondary work in chemistry and physics.
- Introduce students to the world of work and the opportunity for employment in the industrial sector.
- Introduce students to the various technical specialties available at the College.
- Improve students' physical health and stamina through team sports, physical activities, and personal hygiene.
- Provide students with an orientation to the rigorous effort required to attain the skills and knowledge of their chosen specialization.

Final Evaluation
At the end of the second semester, the academic records of the students are reviewed to identify those who will be accepted for the second year.
Students are eligible for second year status after:
- Achieving a cumulative GPA of 1.75 or more or
- Completing all courses in the first year with passing grades.
College regulations state that any student on academic probation will have his studies terminated if either of the following conditions apply:
- The student obtains a GPA of less than 1.00 in the first semester of the Preparatory Year.
- The student obtains two successive grades of "F" in either English or Mathematics
