Failure and Repetition
- A student failing to achieve (after fulfilling all other graduation requirements) a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (Good), has to repeat and register again in those courses in which a "D" (Pass) has been achieved, so that the student has a second opportunity to improve the cumulative average and qualify for graduation.
- A student failing a compulsory course must repeat the course. A student who fails an elective course will be required to repeat that course, or select a substitute course to complete the graduation requirements.
- Attending the final exam is compulsory and absenteeism from any final exam means failure in that subject, and the student will then be awarded an "F" (Failure). This will be taken into account when calculating the GPA for that semester.
Incomplete (I)
- This grade is awarded to the student who has not completed the work required for a certain course. An acceptable excuse for this delay must be approved by the student's instructor. This student will be given additional time to complete the work required from him.
- The student should substitute this incomplete grade for one of the following grades: A+, A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, D within a period determined by the instructor of the subject, provided that this period should not exceed the end of the next semester (with the exception of the summer term). If he doesn't complete the work, the grade "I" (Incomplete) will automatically be changed to an "F" (Failure).
Classification of Withdrawal
- Withdrawn (W) - This means withdrawal of the student from a course during the period between the beginning of the second week and the end of the sixth week of instruction. This grade doesn't affect the grade point average of the student.
- Withdrawn Pass (WP) - This means official withdrawal of the student from all subjects after the sixth week of instruction; provided that the instructors of the student confirm that the student's grades are good; and that he has not been absent for one third of the lectures, laboratories and tests until the date of his withdrawal. It should be noted that the student's GPA will not be affected.
- Withdrawn Failure (WF) - This is given to the student in the following cases:
- If the student withdraws from a subject between the beginning of the third week of study and the end of the sixth week; provided that the total hours of his absence without an acceptable excuse is equal to or more than one third of the total lectures, laboratories, and tests according to the date of withdrawal.
- If the student officially withdraws from all courses after the sixth week of study and his grade point average was below 2.00 (Good), or the hours of his absence are more than one third of the lecture hours, laboratory hours, or the cooperative work experience in accordance with the date of withdrawal.
- If the absence of a student from lectures, laboratory, or cooperative work experience without an acceptable excuse exceeds 15% of total hours designated for the course of that semester.
Computation of the Grade Point Average (GPA)
Calculation of the GPA for each student can be obtained by multiplying the points of each grade by the credit hours. The results for all subjects are totaled and divided by the total credit hours for all subjects.
