The approved educational objectives for the Process Operation and Chemical Analysis Technology Program are:
- To prepare students who are capable of demonstrating excellence in technical knowledge and hands-on-skills in the field of process operation and chemical analysis technology.
- To prepare students with a solid foundation in mathematics, sciences and technology needed in their professional careers.
- To prepare students with the sufficient hands-on-skills in the use of laboratory equipments and computer tools that enables them to obtain, analyze and report scientific data.
- To enhance the students ability to effectively communicate technical and professional information in written, oral, and graphical forms.
- To foster within our students a commitment to protect the public interest, health, safety and environment and to maintain the highest ethical and professional standards towards employers and community at large.
- To prepare students to be interested, motivated, and capable of pursuing continued life-long learning.
- To instill within our students using counseling and academic advising the technical and communication skills that will prepare them for supervisory roles in industry.
- To prepare students to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams in a variety of working environments.
Program Outcomes
The expected POCATP outcomes are that the student will:
- be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and technology to solve emerging problems in the field of process operation and chemical analysis technology
- be able to identify, formulate and solve technical problems in the field of process operation and chemical analysis technology employing the skills of critical thinking and creative problem solving
- be able to operate a variety of chemical process and chemical analysis equipments, use computational tools, conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, write reports and apply experimental results for process improvement
- be able to demonstrate broad education and knowledge of contemporary issues in the global and societal context encountered in the practice of chemical engineering technology
- be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of competency and proficiency in oral and written communications
- be able to function as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team in a variety of working environments
- be able to recognize and appreciate the need to engage in life-long learning processes to maintain and enhance the professional practice of chemical engineering technology
